Perplexed by Pandemia

It is what it is. Or is it? The word theory is defined as the rational explanation of a thing based on observation, limited facts, and personal experience. Conspiracy theory is defined by the assertion (with or without substantiation) that certain people or groups are working secretly to achieve a nefarious goal that most often results in intentional harm to others. In either case, when spun the right way to a receptive audience, it isn’t difficult to convince people who have what most people have, the human ‘need to know’.

Before I discuss the most popular theories, have you heard any of the far-fetched ideas listed below?

  • The new 5G wireless technology is to blame, not a virus.
  • Contrails are responsible for spreading the virus globally in less than three months.
  • This pandemic was predicted by Rasputin, Dean Koontz, Sylvia Browne, and by an episode of the Simpsons
  • Celebrities are getting paid to get tested. – Cardi B
  • Democrats are lying about hospital capacity. – Shane Morris
  • The COVID-19 virus came to earth on a meteorite to soften us up before an alien invasion.

Most of you will find the assertions listed above too silly to follow the links, but some of you might just do as I would, and follow the links in search of the weird and unusual. (I am continually surprised by the nuggets of information I discover in the least expected places.)

While doing my own due diligence to research before writing this post, I wondered who comes up with these crazy theories and how are they spread? I suppose I am more naive than jaded since I was almost shocked to find this tutorial in a blog by Nancy Bixler. ‘Three Steps to Creating Your Own Conspiracy Theory.’ In her opening sentence, she bluntly asks, “Do you want to put forward a conspiracy theory of your own on your blog?” Bixler continues to offer in-depth details for taking each step. She encourages readers to practice writing a false theory as part of the tutorial, and she sounds almost proud to share her secret weapon. How to take advantage of readers by targeting their emotions. “People have a built-in need to feel that there is a sense in what happens in the world, and we’ll make a story for why events happen even where there isn’t sufficient evidence to really know”. (sigh)

Edwin Hodge, a Sociologist at the University of Victoria, Canada, agrees that conspiracy theories do fill a need that almost every person has in common with every other person. The human ‘need to know’ is a powerful driving force. When asked about the COVID-19 theories Hodge says, “Believing that it just happened by accident doesn’t work… One of the things I found that a lot of conspiracy theories do is they provide a sense of order to a chaotic universe.” But there is no sense of order yet. The pandemic ravaged humanity too quickly. It has left billions of frightened people without substantial answers to the most important questions. Where did it come from, how did it spread, and when will there be a vaccine. And yes, there is a need to know if there is a conspiracy lurking there within the din of online perplexing misinformation and fake news.

In response to those who propose credible theories, a plethora of talking heads continues to insist that conspiracy theories are dangerous and do more harm than good. Does downplaying the possibility of conspiracy result in decreased anxiety, or increase suspicion that conspiracies abound?

In his article, Consequences of Failing to Investigate, Byron Breedlove (affiliated with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Atlanta, Georgia) cites details about the Trojan War to express why a thorough investigation into this pandemic is necessary. “Knowing where the danger lies, whether assessing the threat for human infection with high-consequence pathogens or defending a besieged city, is crucial to protecting the health and well-being of the public. Perhaps careful investigation might have changed the outcome of the Trojan War,” Breedlove may not have convinced you that Greek mythology has any relevance to this very real crisis, but the crux of the story is this… Failure to investigate serious issues will result in serious consequences. History teaches us not to accept everything we hear from so-called authorities and supposed experts. If we demand truth and accountability from our leaders, we must first demand it of ourselves. This then is my inspiration for writing today.

Four widely accepted theories about the COVID-19 pandemic.
  1. NESARA (National Economic Security and Reformation Act) Is the pandemic being used as a tool by those looking to activate and carry out the provisions of NESARA?
  2. COVID-19 is the result of Chinese bioweapon engineering.
  3. Was, or was not the COVID-19 engineered in a lab?
  4. The COVID-19 Pandemic is the onset of the 7 year Tribulation, the Apocalypse prophesied in the Bible.

1. N E S A R A

NESARA offers more than 20 reasons to give Americans something to hope for. Many are hoping that this pandemic will result in the activation of the National Economic Security and Reformation Act. In 2011 an Obama era petition asking the government to put NESARA in place specifies a few of the more universally attractive provisions of the proposal.

  • Zeros out all credit card, mortgage, and other bank debt.
  • Abolishes the income tax.
  • Creates a 14% flat rate of non-essential-new-items-only sales tax revenue for the government. In other words, food and medicine will not be taxed; nor will used items such as old homes.
  • Increased benefits to senior citizens.
  • Returns Constitutional Law to all courts.
  • Monitors elections, and prevents illegal tactics committed by special interest groups.
  • Creates a new U.S. Treasury currency backed by gold, silver, and platinum precious metals.

NESARA was first written as an economic proposal by Harvey Francis Barnard in the 1990s for consideration by the Clinton administration. He was certain that his blueprint for rebuilding America would be received, praised, and promptly implemented. That was not the case! (A rewritten copy was later nick-named the ‘Draining the Swamp’ proposal.) Somewhere along the line, provisions were added to include more sweeping economic and political changes. Yet controversy continues to surround the relevant questions. Were Barnard’s ideas considered by the Clinton administration as viable? Were the NESARA provisions ever officially adopted? If so, why have they yet to be implemented? In a LinkedIn article, Sonja Zozula asserts that NESARA was; in fact, signed into law by President Clinton on October 10th, 2000. She claims that to protect the interests of certain government officials and institutions, a gag order was promptly issued by the Supreme Court to prevent the release of information regarding the new law.  About her own continued efforts to discuss NESARA with representatives in her area, Zozula states, “Congressmen Darrell Issa, Senator Dianne Feinstein, and Senator Barbara Boxer. They are all operating under a gag order by the Supreme Court forbidding it to be discussed.” A search online regarding the gag order produces pages and pages of substantiating documents. Petitions to announce and enact NESARA provide a great deal of evidence to support Zozula’s claims. Like this one, I found posted at The petition details the complete history of the conspiracy and reveals the shocking punishment the Supreme Court has ordered for government officials who dare break the code of silence. “At every step of the process, anyone directly involved has been required to sign an agreement to keep the U.S. Supreme Court’s process of implementing the required reformations “secret”, or face charges of Treason which are punishable by death”

For what promises to be the recapturing of constitutional American principals, some might find it plausible that our government (or some other secret society) would use the COVID-19 pandemic as a convenient means to an end. Much of what NESARA proposes is after all, consistent with the issues President Donald Trump incessantly tweets about. Less plausible is the pandemic, and the resulting chaos has all been orchestrated by a one-world right-wing group intent on implementing NESARA, and using a special branch of the U.S. military to enforce it. 2. COVID-19 is the Result of Chinese Bioweapon Engineering.

China has come under fire for its alleged failures regarding this pandemic. Yet, does anyone truly believe they have been engineering a virus to use as a bioweapon? A scary thought for sure. Let me pose this question to you… Is it probable that one or more hostile countries are currently attempting to engineer bioweapons right now? While bioterrorism has been a potential threat to the U.S. for a while, conspiracy theories have recently gained unprecedented popularity. Soon after the news of the Coronavirus went public, social media users were buzzing about the correlation of a 1981 book by Dean Koontz, in which he seems to have predicted this pandemic with precision. A COVID19 article explains that the Koontz thriller ‘The Eyes of Darkness’ gives, “–an account of a virus called ‘Wuhan-400’ which was developed at the RDNA lab outside the city of Wuhan…”, and the tale provides, “–intricate details about how the virus affects the human body….”, Fans agree. Koontz “–writes with chilling accuracy.” It is no secret that skilled fiction writers are adept at imagining, then recreating believable future events for their fans. But when non-fiction reporting mixes with believable fiction into the imaginations of certain individuals, oppressive fear and paranoia may set in.

If by now you are on the cusp of accepting this theory, the next bit of information might nudge you closer to a final decision. Consider this Yahoo article that details an FBI report dating back to November 2018, in which a Chinese biologist was apprehended in the U.S. while transporting the SARS virus and flu samples in his luggage! The article says the incident and two other cases cited were noted in the FBI report as, “–part of an alarming pattern.” Authors of the Yahoo article reveal, “In the case of the suspected SARS and MERS vials, the intelligence report cites another classified document that is marked “FISA,” meaning it contains information collected under the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act” Another recent story published by the Libya Observer (also posted on Facebook) accuses a Syrian airline company of importing sick people from virus plagued areas of Iran. “In a statement on Wednesday (4/1/2020), the Interior Ministry of Libya said Cham Wings office in Benghazi was doing dubious trade activities and bringing people who had contact with Iranians to Benghazi.” You must agree, that sounds like Syria has found a way to weaponize COVID-19! The sad and frightening realization is, countries that use chemical weapons against their own people will probably not hesitate to use bioterrorism against their enemies when provoked.

Before moving on, I would be remiss not to share this well written and informative article from that suggests conspiracy theories allow American adversaries to ‘weponize misinformation’ against us. ‘Blaming America: China Weaponizes Misinformation About COVID-19’ is a good read.

3. Was, or Was Not COVID-19 Created in a Lab?

The evidence is conclusive that COVID-19 or a closely related Coronavirus is being studied and probably escaped from the lab where that study is taking place. Specifically, the Wuhan lab in China located next to the fresh meat market and has been identified as the origination point for the outbreak.

The Washington Times quoted Senator Ted Cruz yesterday about the potential of an accidental release. Cruz affirmed, “We know that at that facility, they were researching highly, highly infectious diseases including coronaviruses – including coronaviruses that [derive] from bats, and so they’re researching the exact same type of disease that became this pandemic.” Cruz also said the accusation that the virus escaped the Wuhan lab is a natural conclusion since Chinese officials have tried so hard to cover it up. Though there is more than enough evidence to confidently assert the virus is being studied at the Wuhan lab, is there credible evidence to support the idea that the COVID-19 virus may have been engineered there? No there is not. In fact, the opposite seems to be true. In this article, published in February 2020, experts from the New England Journal of Medicine make a convincing case against the ‘engineered’ presumption. The fittingly titled, ‘Escaping Pandora’s Box – Another Novel Coronavirus’, cites information that shows historically, past outbreaks, epidemics, and pandemics most often originate from animals like bats or monkeys, in which the virus has mutated to infect humans. “We have created a global, human-dominated ecosystem that serves as a playground for the emergence and host-switching of animal viruses, especially genetically error-prone RNA viruses, whose high mutation rates have, for millions of years, provided opportunities to switch to new hosts in new ecosystems.” The ability to adapt is key to survival in the microbial realm of the virus.

4. COVID-19 Pandemic Marks the Onset of the Seven Year Tribulation Prophesied By the Bible.

(NOTE: In some theological circles, Apocalypse is interchangeable with Tribulation.)

Christians may find it easier to accept a theological explanation for the global chaos this pandemic is causing. Though based entirely on Biblical scripture, some would argue that Biblical prophecies bear themselves out as truth based on historic and current real-world events like this one.

For this discussion, I will use three sources. ‘Christian Bible‘, ‘The Book of Revelation Study Guide by Mark A. Copeland, and the New King James Version Bible. (NKJV) All chapters listed below are found in the book of Revelation.

If you hang around folks that enjoy talking about the Good Word, you will eventually hear that The Revelation was written in the figurative style. The last surviving Apostle, John son of Zebedee probably used that style to record the visions to keep enemies from understanding this last prophetical book of the Bible. John was exiled on the isle of Patmos as he toiled to finish this Holy service. He was able to vividly describe the constant fantastical visions he experienced. John must have become overwhelmed at times as angels delivered their cryptic messages from on high, and especially when God delivered his word personally.

The events that would usher in the end times begin in Chapter 6. This chapter of Revelation tells about the opening of the first six of Seven Seals. Also, the arrival of the Four Horseman of the Apocalypse is recorded there.

The Seventh Seal is opened in chapter 7. Chapters 8-11 describe the horrific maladies that will plague the globe as each of Seven Trumpets sound. Then chapters 15-16 speaks of the 7 bowls of God’s Wrath poured out upon humanity. John records each foreboding event in gruesome detail.

It may be that these three groups of 7 events each will occur simultaneously in a distant future to fulfill the prophesied Apocalypse.  Excluding the cataclysmic events of the six cosmic disturbances mentioned in chapters 12-14, many theologians believe that certain events have already taken place and that others are in the process of happening.

Where is the support found for the assertion that the COVID-19 pandemic marks the onset of the Seven Year Tribulation prophesied by the Bible?

In Revelation 6:7-8, the Apostle John recounts the key scripture that may answer the above question. The scripture speaks,“When He (Jesus) opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth living creature saying, ‘Come and see.’ So I looked, and behold, a pale horse. And the name of him who sat on it was Death, and Hades followed with him. And power was given to them over a fourth of the earth, to kill with sword, with hunger, with death, and by the beasts of the earth.” It is important to point out that the word ‘death’ used near the end of the verse refers to death by plague, pestilence or disease.

Since theology is unsure of the timing of these events, you could at least make an informed decision based on the evidence covered. With this knowledge, it is not so difficult to believe that the COVID-19 pandemic may mark the onset of the 7 Year Tribulation.

In conclusion, without established facts and explanations from trusted sources, the best you can hope for is to find faith in something that will satisfy your own ‘need to know’. You must ask yourself, “Am I sure?” Established facts and trusted explanations often fall short of providing real security and the kind of hope needed to make it through times like these. Be confident of what you believe and stand firm. Forgoing doomsday prophecies, humanity will face similar crises or worse events in a future that will arrive sooner than later.

Been around for a while now, so I don't expect to be slowed down much by a pandemic either! I am determined to figure it out as I go. I'm just hoping I don't go until I got it figured out.
